Volunteer Experience

Serving as a Swahili interpreter at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church has been an amazing opportunity to serve my diverse community. This experience has strengthened my communication skills, cultural competence, and ability to serve diverse communities. It's a continuous drive to gain valuable skills working with diverse communities and ensuring equitable access to services.

Typically Involves:

• Provide real-time interpretation of sermons, prayers, scripture readings, and announcements between English and Swahili

• Translate written materials such as church bulletins, programs, flyers, and Bible study resources into Swahili

• Support Swahili-speaking members with communication, questions, and understanding church processes
